John Chestnut

John Chestnut

John Chestnut, PT, DPT, MS

John achieved his undergraduate Physical Therapy degree from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2008. He then gained his Masters’s in Clinical Neuroscience from King’s College London. Since moving to the States, John achieved a Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Illinois.

John has a variety of clinical experience over his many years of practice ranging from treatment of younger athletes to geriatric populations. He has a particular interest in vestibular therapy having worked for a leading Otoneurologist in Chicago treating vertigo and various other vestibular disorders.  He successfully completed the distinguished Vestibular Rehabilitation Competency-based course at Emory University. John also has a number of continuing education certificates for treatment of myofascial pain (instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization, cupping, taping, etc.), temporomandibular disorder (TMD/TMJ) and is an LSVT BIG certified clinician for treatment of people with Parkinson’s disease.

John believes that continued learning is crucial to keep up with current evidence-based treatments to effectively care for his patients. In this light, John is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and enjoys assisting Physical Therapists at the start of their careers.  John has published research in the evaluation of neuropathic low back pain and post-stroke fatigue. He has lectured on various treatments for myofascial pain. After his time in research, John took a 3-month career break to bicycle 4500 miles across the continental United States in support of the Christian Aid Charity.

John moved to the Upstate in 2019 with his wife, daughter, and dog to be closer to family and have year-round access to the outdoors. He enjoys time on the water at Lake Hartwell. John is excited to become part of the Clemson community!

Monte Wright

Monte Wright

Monte Wright MS, MSPT, CFE

A resident of Oconee County for 25 years Monte Wright has been the owner and an active director of LifeStrides Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in West Union since 2006. He served the community as Assistant Director of Rehabilitation at Oconee Memorial Hospital before opening his own clinic. Monte opened LifeStrides with the mindset to provide a professional and personal approach, to meld the science and art of physical therapy, to bring leading-edge treatment with the wisdom of experience, and to approach each challenge as a ministry to serve.

Monte received a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1996 and also has a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee. He has been honored as presenting author of the research at national conventions of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. With this research emphasis background, evidence-based treatment is a foundation principle recognizing each patient is an individual with a unique history and response to treatment.

When you don’t find Monte at his clinic he is most likely singing or teaching at Church, dabbling in theater, or on an infrequent occasion on the golf course. He also enjoys hiking and white water rafting when the opportunity presents itself with several trips rafting and hiking in West Virginia, Tennessee, Colorado, and Idaho.

Monte and his staff continue to treat a wide variety of physical limitations and injuries including special programs for cancer-related fatigue (his past experience working in cardiac rehabilitation as an Exercise Physiologist helped with developing a gradual progressive monitored program), vertigo, spine, and joint injuries, sports injuries, neurological challenges, and worker’s compensation.

The team at LifeStrides strives to provide exceptional care in a welcoming environment where fellow patients encourage one another and even have a little fun as they recover.

At LifeStrides we get you moving forward, moving better…
