Physical Therapy for Reducing Fall Risk

In the United States falls are the leading cause of injury in adults age 65 and older.  As many as 48 seniors will die each day from injuries related to a fall.  One out of three people age 65 years and older fall each year. Over 90% of hip and wrist fractures are caused by falls.  Physical therapy has been show effective at reducing fall risk. With a multi-dimensional approach including strengthening, balance training, neuromuscular re-education to improve proprioception and position sense along with functional challenges simulating daily life activities greater safety, stability, and independence is gained.

Sessions typically last from 45-60 minutes depending on patient tolerance with periodic rest breaks as needed early in the program.  The typical program involves 2-3 visits per week to gain a positive training effect.  Our program begins with a thorough physical therapy evaluation and communication with your physician regarding your initial status and continues with regular assessments of progress provided to your physician as well.

We are committed to help those struggling to regain their functional mobility, independence, and joy in taking positive “Strides” in life.
